There are many ways that the City of Grygla works to serve the community. The following are the major departments of the city, including a description of their main functions. Administration

Buildings & Maintenance

To oversee the general maintenance of all city buildings, the custodial services for all buildings, the schedule of city buildings & grounds, the collection and disposal of household and yard wastes, the operations of the Volunteer Fire Department, the maintenance and upkeep of mowers & other equipment, and recycling.

Emergency Management

Parks & Recreation

Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all city parks & camping facilities, to develop or enhance summer recreational programs for youth, to oversee ice arenas, to develop or enhance other recreational programs for community members, to be responsible for tree maintenance & pest control, to commit to continual planning & grant writing for recreational needs of the citizens of Grygla.

Public Relations

To oversee, initiate or administer city revolving loan funds and/or economic growth and development, all city planning and zoning, all building permits, maintenance of all official records, encourage and provide opportunity for citizen participation - elections, maintain communication with the citizens of Grygla via the media, work with local businesses to enhance services related to retail business within the community, oversee that the pet ordinances are being enforced, and property maintenance.

Public Safety

We are proud of our Fire Department and Rescue Squad. We are currently fully staffed, but we are always looking for a few good men and women who have the professional skills required to excel in this department. If you are one of those, please contact the department and ask to be put on our notification list for the next opening!

A fully equipped volunteer fire department and rescue squad provide 24 hour emergency service to Grygla and surrounding communities.

Public Works

Streets

To oversee street maintenance, the maintenance of the bituminous street surfaces, maintenance of the aggregate street surfaces, of proper traffic signage, removal of trees from public right of way, maintenance of storm sewers, lift station, all city water, installation of roadways, culverts and ditching in city limits, removal of storm debris, and operations of the airport.
